1. Technical storage
ChronoBoxes uses technical local storage for selected preferences and, where relevant, adventure progress or private keys associated with creating and managing a server-stored box. These functions are necessary to provide the requested experience.
2. Anonymous operational counters
ChronoBoxes keeps first-party aggregate counts of page loads, successful ChronoBox creations by type and successful openings. It also estimates unique visitors and sessions and keeps aggregate counts of entry-source categories and landing-page paths. This system does not set or read an analytics cookie or persistent browser identifier. To estimate uniques, the server transforms request network/browser metadata in memory with a private key into an aggregate statistical sketch; raw IP addresses and user agents are not stored by this metrics layer. Source reporting stores only categories or referring domains, never full referring URLs, and landing reporting stores only the page path without query strings or URL fragments. Capsule IDs, message content and media are not included.
3. Optional analytics
Google Analytics is loaded only after the user selects “Accept” in the consent notice. If “Reject” is selected, the site keeps its core functionality without enabling Google Analytics. When accepted, ChronoBoxes measures aggregate visits and product events such as creation starts, free box creation and openings. Capsule message text, sender names, photos, videos, secret answers and secret-location coordinates are not sent as analytics event content.
| Category | Provider | Purpose | Activation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Technical | ChronoBoxes | Preferences, local keys and requested functionality | Necessary |
| Analytics | Google Analytics | Aggregate visits and product use | Consent only |
4. Ko-fi
The optional Ko-fi support button is a normal external link. Ko-fi is not loaded inside ChronoBoxes merely because you visit the site. If you click the link, Ko-fi applies its own cookies and policies on its website.
5. Change your choice
The home page includes a “Cookie settings” option that reopens the consent panel. You can also clear stored preferences in your browser.
6. Private text-only links
Text-only normal capsule data may be placed in the URL fragment after the # symbol. Browsers do not send that fragment in the ordinary HTTP request for the page, which reduces exposure to normal web server logs and analytics tools.
